Found this unexpected coin in road construction today, after work hunt for a few hours. 1789 Spanish Half Reale. The road was constructed of planks in 1834 but I think this is a fur trade coin that was dropped when camps were set up on a nearby river in the late 1700's. The coin is really worn so who know, i'm not even sure its a half reale. Its about dime size but paper thin. Thanks and HH, lko_88

Though uncleaned, it does resemble some of the reales that's been posted here lately. Sure would like to come across one of those here in CA!!

I found one several yrs ago.. under the football bleachers at our high school.... bout an inch or so down.... the bleachers date from 1913..... but there were houses in there before that,.... so I have no clue..... I am in SE ohio..... that stuff seems to find its way everyplace.... boy I am sure glad it does though!
