Nice gold Hawk, out of a few rocks. Why not have someone weld a piece of pipe, axle or prybar onto that chunk of metal and have a better pestle?

Dave,
This is just a workable field expedient...if I had it welded, I would go ahead and motorize it (plans are already in my head)...but, I don't crush that many rocks.

P.S. You and Cody should join me for a beer someday...I'll buy the first round.

I've a new mini impact mill that a friend had made for me.Another friend took pics and hopefully I''ll get them soon and post them on different forums. If your real handy it's a snap to build.Did the gold in the rock come from the tertiary conglomerate?

Nice set-up Hurthawk. I had a similar set-up until I saw this one, which I promptly duplicated.

It is a hammer drill with a bushing bit attached.

Thanks for the vids.
I have some turquoise that I need to crush for inlays and that would work well.
Also some obsidian I would like to try.
Don't have an air hammer or a post setter but think welding a cap on a pipe would work.
