I went to the beach with my metal detector and when I dug this up I almost left it laying on the beach, but my sister told me it might be a meteor.. Does anyone know if this is one or not.

It looks like a grey crusty shell on the outside and it is starting to crumble off sort of like big pieces of dust. The inside is kinda rusty looking. See pics.

This thing weighs alot for its size.. It weighs 2lbs 3oz, it is 6"x5"x2 1/2"............Thanks

Try using a magnet most Meteor's are composed of iron/nickle keep your fingers crossed :o :o :o

did you find it with your detector? If so, probably aluminum unless it is soft and heavy, lead then.

A meteor can rust, but would not generally be crusty and fragile.
Looks like lead that got wrapped around some iron.
Take it to the local university and ask at the geology dept.
