Off the top of my head I would say NO DON'T DO IT!!!

Gold is soft, the quartz not so. So the gold would buff off long before you would ever remove any of the rock.

Now acid washing is one option though if all you want to do is expose the gold and remove the stone....

High grade vs low is simple, it's all about the gold and how much there is, if you can see it real easy and there is good color showing High grade....

If there is gold in the rock but you cannot see it with out good magnification, it is sparse, takes a lot (as in tons) to crush to get an ounce of gold out of, low grade....

Good luck in your exploration me I have not even had the good fortune to find low grade on my claim....
