counterfeit or not, it's awesome. probably more so if it's counterfeit, because of the extent someone went to make a forgery

Forgeries as "art" were popular in the 1800's in england. That may be what it is, it does not look to be contemerary.

'Just in case no-one has ID’d, Old Soapy’s recent coin post is like a Sears Vol II 6884/5 with Legend ANTONINVS PIVS AVG for CARACALLA with SECVRIT IMPER II Reverse for Securitas sat on throne.'

Interesting when these turn up.

I agree with your dad.
Caracalla (AD 198-217) had his name changed to Marcus Anrelius Antoninus; and he was the sole emperor who referred to Securitas as "securitas impii"--on coins dating between 206 and 210 AD.
