Roman Metal Working Site - Best Solo Hunt...

In terms of quantity of good finds this must be one of my best hunts this year. A big thanks to Land-Mag for dropping me off & picking me up.

I gridded for just over 5 hours & I'm close to finishing off the back of the site, maybe 1 hour to go.

Roman Hair Pin
1 Broken Roman Rosette Brooch (1st C AD)
2 Celtic Brooches
Roman Mystery Military Fitment
Bow & Fantail Brooch (1st C AD)
Bronze Age Spear Frag
My first Roman 'Fly' Brooch - 2nd C AD
Celtic Silver Fragment of a Silver Unit - Hostidius Type circa 55-45BC - I was hoping for this because we now have a 1 bronze/1 silver/1 gold Celtic for the year.
The small lead pellet over the coin is to show how sensitive the 11" Coil is.

A day to remember - Bronze Age, Iron Age, & Roman.

Unbelievable how many brooches turn up on that site. Can't say which i like more, the fantail brooch because i love the design or the fly brooch because of the rarity.
When picking up birdshot you know you swing slow enough!

I thought most people know that Land-Mag or Land Magnet is our third member of the team. One of the most important as he does tons of research & has gained us permission for many thousands of acres. In fact just around the corner to this site is an area we named after his dog - Fan's Roman Site.
