S&H Green Stamps

I saw a garage sale sign pointing down a long driveway. The mid-twenties lady said that it was actually over the day before, but they forgot to take down the sign. These were in a box of trash that they were going to take down to the burn pit. She said that her father-in-law's older brother had a gas station in the 40's to the 70's. After he died they used the building for storage. They cleaned it out when the property sold, and the stamps were in the office. She says she had never heard of them, but sure they wern't worth anything. I was kind enough to haul them off for her, the good sameritan that I am. I don't know how many, I can't count that high.

Re: S&H Green Stamps

The ones in the books are "50's" and the rolls are all "10's."
Thanks for looking. I think from that points site they are still valuable. Hope I don't have to put them in books.
I may not have that much time in this world.

I would think they have more value in rolls to collectors.

Re: S&H Green Stamps Thanks/Jeff of PA

Thanks Jeff..I called the redemption center in Fla. They can be redeamed for $1.20 a book (penny a piece) We counted 57 completed books, plus some loose pages. Counted two of the fold overs. One was 6 books + 4. The other was 5 books + 1. No idea how many are in the big roll.
We have to glue them to a sheet of paper...1200 to sheet.
Not rich, but worth what we have in them.

if you have a Good scale Weigh 10 of them
Then weigh a role then
do the math.

although there is probably somone willing to pay more then
$1.20 a book

& a nice amount for
Unstuck ones on a roll

Re: S&H Green Stamps

I bought a whole bunch of Green stamps at an estate auction a few years ago for $1 or $2. Nearly all of the stamps were pasted in books. My friends laughed at me at the time.

I did send them in to the redemption center, and within a few weeks, received a check for them. It seems like I cleared $13 or $14 in profit after I paid shipping.

The disappointing part of the whole deal was that I had quite a few separately printed voucher/ticket/certificate things stating "This is valued at 100 Green Stamps". It was hand signed and had a hand written note of "television purchase" on each of them. At the bottom, it said something like "Clark TV and Appliance, 608 Main, Tele.: Lincoln 5"

The green stamp folks wouldn't honor those vouchers, even though they had the logo printed on them. It seems like I had about 20 of those vouchers, which would have made the deal pretty sweet.

Nonetheless, I've often wondered how and why some lady obtained those vouchers. Did she work at the TV store? Did they buy a bunch of TV's, maybe for a hospital, or military base?

Also, there was a green stamp dispenser that sold at an auction this past Friday night. I bid on it, but there was a ton of confusion with the auctioneer and the ring men, and somehow, someone else got it. It felt pretty heavy, so I figured that it still had a roll inside the machine. Kicking myself now for not following through with it!!!!!!!

Re: S&H Green Stamps

I thought those stamp companies went out of business decades ago.

Every now and then I still see books of stamps for sale.

Is Blue Chip still redeeming?

Re: S&H Green Stamps

Wow! Does this ever take me back!

My Mom loved her S&H Green Stamps...whenever she sent me to the market, she always cautioned: "Make sure they give you the green stamps...if you forget them, they'll keep them for themselves!"

I fondly remember her putting my "licking and sticking" skills to use whenever she came home from shopping!
