I don't think you can really be alarmed with the air test. Try making a test bed area and put the dime in it and try again.

I get over a foot with a dime. Do a noise cancel and be sure you are away from electronic devices and large metal objects put sensitivity at 19. Booooyaaah!

Your detector if properly airtested should be fairly close to what it will do in average dirt.

I would be very concerned at 5" on a dime. I'd start with a factory reset and change to the environment for the test.

Also if your in outo sens turn that off, makes the detector run smooth but kills depth. Also a coin thats been in the ground a while will hit better than one that was just put there as well. HH
