I live in FL near the beach and am considering a 'beach' MD. Is the Sand Shark a good choice? I own an old (really old) Fisher 1265X but it just won't tolerate wet sand (hey, it was 20 bucks and they threw in a bed frame and a driver set, what can I say). Thanx for any feed back.

The Tesoro Sand Shark is an excellent detector for salt water beaches. Be aware however that it being a PI detector it won't have any discrimination and you will dig deep holes for iron and gold rings that other machines will have no idea are there. The only beach detector that comes close to the PI's in depth is Excalibur 1000, and it has iron mask so you aren't digging to China for a nail. The Sand Shark is very good on batteries too. It seems like they never run out............

Thanks Sandman, I am looking at a used one for $300. The reviews are (mostly) good and you give it the blessing, good enough for me.
