I wonder what a 3D graph (carat weight x signal strength x depth) of those readings would look like.

On fresh drops.....yes. Lower karat gold and gold that gets encased in highly mineralized soil/sand can read a bit off on both scales.What I got from it was that the target ID on the conductive was a lot higher on larger bits of gold, in past I always thought the numbers were sub 20.
Clearly this is not the case.
Also all of the numbers on ferrous scale are around 12.
