I was able to get out with a friend today and after fighting extraordinarily mineralized soil at a park, we decided to hit up a school in the next county over. I've detected this school once, about a month or so ago and clad adjective and a sterling cross pendant.
Today, I noticed plugs were another detectorist had recently been...and left the trash targets in the hole!! Clad started rolling in, and I found the ring about 3' from holes the other detectorist dug. It rang in as a quarter about 3" with the GTI 2500, and the 8x11 DD.
The clad continued to comeand rain pushed my buddy and I under the covered walkways. I was working the sidewalk edges and found the gold earring. Registering foil, and the gold hue I thought it was 1 of the trillions of pull tabs, but to my surprise to was GOLD! My 1st gold find! And my mission became to find the mate, or to be able to state confidently that it was NOT there...alas, it wasn't. But hey, silver, gold, and $...I was thrilled. The clad kept on coming and every time I'd see a hole from that other detectorist I couldn't help but grin...

Great finds, congrats. Caution, schoolyard digging is addictive and there is no turning back. (I don't want to, its where I find all of my gold and silver...) Your ring has artwork similar to primitive Native American or African carvings? Hard to tell but beautiful and silver! Happy Hunting, Sub 8-)

It's motif definitely struck me as "Native American."
