Hi guys, wanted to share with u my finds today from Santa Rosa Island, Fl. Found a very old silver knot piece of jewelry. It is I graved 925 and looks like reads LAA . The stamp is hard to read. Not sure what the LAA stands for. I was using the whites PI DF and the tone response for it was solid and I could pin point it very easy surprisingly with 2-3ft waves crashing around me. U know, it didn't have a halo that extended to the edges of the coil. Was a nice solid under the coil response

Very cool find. I haven't seen one before like that. The LAA could be a makers mark but I wouldn't know that for sure. I also have a white dual field surf pi and the one thing about that detector is you definitely know when you've hit something. It's got a great solid tone.

That's good to hear I just ordered the same detector on the advice of a friend. Do use your inland at all? I will be using mine on the beach 98% of the time but was wondering how it will do in the woods? Cool find!

Actually it would be great for relic hunting. Because you are going to dig everything anyway. The larger coil may be a bit tough for dense wooded areas. If you utube the detector there's a few vids of guys using them on land too.

Really neat! It looks like its been in the drink for a while. If you figure out exactly what it is please share it, it would be neat to know a little history on that one.

I use the whites df for salt water, lakes, rivers. I use an AT pro for inland. I have heard of people using DF for looking for deep targets. It is so sensitive , it was driving me crazy digging a bb shot 18in deep. It takes practice to learn difference in response of iron, foil, silver, ect. Clive Clynick wrote a really useful book called The Whites Surfmaster P.I. Dual Field: An advanced guide, also a book called Pulse Power. These books are loaded with tips

An update on the research on this one: this is stamped 925 S LAA and it is a Troll bead. These were originally made in 1976 in Europe. Not sure what year this one was made.
