I know these aren't worth a ton - probably just melt, but they are pretty tough to find in the wild. I pulled this one from a box yesterday. Only my 2nd ever. The wife found one last year in one of our boxes. She thought she had pulled something really rare because it was silver and not from the 60s. Pretty cool surprise. Both are circulation strikes (not proofs). Anyone else found one lately?

Gonna be a good year for CRHing.
HH all!

Congratulations! I did find 11 Bicentennial S 40% halves in a Brinks MWR box of halves on Nov. 14, as well as (7) 90% and (37) 1965-69 40% halves, but that must have been part of a collection dump and I haven't found any since then. They are pretty rare!

I found a 76 d gold plated. Looked it up on Ebay ..... 8-12 bucks...kinda cool. I saw the gold edge first and thought I was gonna score big, but it was not to be.

I've found 2 last year, 1 is my avatar, the other is put away, both non proof, but Silver. I consider them rare, at least a rare find in my book, great score! HH, Maverick.

Haven't found the half, but did find the quarter and the dollar.

Proof on the dollar, uncirculated for the quarter.

Very nice!!

Last week i found about 5-6 clad proofs, one was a 1976 S proof(clad)

Silver bicentennial would be awesome, but the clad proof is still pretty neat

Wait a second... All 1976 S are 40%?

head slap!

No, some are some are not. They have a silver edge just like any other 40, and ring the same when dropped. HH, Maverick.

Just unintelligent people buying, they have no collectors value.

BB- Is yours gold plated, or is that the picture quality?

I have found prob 30 proofs including a 76 but all have been clad, not a silver proof yet. Maybe one day I'll get lucky.

Just the lighting. Took the pic at night. Under normal light, the coin looks the same as any 40%er. I've found a ton of 76 proofs - none silver. Just the 2 40% business strikes- mint set coins, if I'm not mistaken.

Mine looks like a 90% from the edge.
