Howdy Folks!
The temperature finally got above freezing here in the Denver metro area,
and I joined with a number of guys from the Eureka Treasure Hunter's Club
to hunt a park where they are doing extensive landscape work. I got real
lucky on this hunt, and within 2 hours, nailed a 1943 Mercury Dime, a 1944
War Nickel and a 1905 V-Nickel.

My wife and I attended the club meeting last night, and she had all the luck.
She bought only 6 tickets, while my pardner and me bought about $35 bucks
worth of tickets between us, and got skunked. My wife got 2 hits, and ended
up with a Walking Liberty half dollar and a Mercury dime before the drawing
was done. And she only bought 6 tickets! Hmmm.

Anyhow, before leaving the meeting, one of the guys told me about the park
where they found some excellent stuff and invited me to come out and hunt
today. While there is still snow on the ground here, and ice, and you really
need a rock hammer to deal with the hardpack, 5 or 6 of us ventured out and
enjoyed hunting the location.

I made a crossing of the open park area, finding only a couple of modern
coins. Then I crossed the tot lot and got a few more coins, but nothing to
write home about.

Then I noticed that the sidewalk had been ripped out and figured there should
be some goodies there. In short order, I found a 1905 V-nickel. After crossing
the field to show it off to the other guys, I returned and soon got another hit,
and popped out a 1943 Mercury dime. Once again I crossed the field to show
off this find and upon my return, got a 3rd hit that turned out to be a war
nickel. I was pretty well stoked about my finds. The others didn't seem to be
having anything near the luck I was enjoying.

Anyhow, I had errands to run and after only a couple of hours in the field, had
to go - reluctantly. But tomorrow is supposed to be fairly warm, and I expect to
head back to that location to see what got missed today!

Thanks for Lookin,
Blessings,
M-Taliesin

You certainly have more nerve than I do. Digging in the snow, not for this girl! :icon_santa:

Howdy Neighbor!
Well, I ain't too fond of snow either, but prefer it to ice or hardpack ground.
We had all of the above! Good thing I had my rock hammer with me. Busted
through the frozen ground just fine.

The day warmed up into the low 50s today, so it wasn't bad being out.

Blessings,

DIGGING IN THE SNOW....you are now an official member of the Bucket Club of Korea.....where all of us dirt fishermen-types
do love to hunt in the snow.....even if it means not packing the machines, but just looking for new coin sites for the next year.
Still hunting here.....but supposed to be below 32 all this week.....bbbrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.....have to dig out the long johns. :laughing7:
Good finds....and a good night the night before, at the club show. Keep hunting them round thingees.

Howdy Pardner!
Trust me, the long johns were on. So were the wool socks, tee shirt, long sleeve tee shirt
over that, sweatshirt, and good waterproof boots!

I was ready to hunt. Due to snow and temperatures down to -17 below zero, I was
ready to get out. This was my first hunt of the month. And already, 12 days were
gone!

Cabin fever was starting to set in, and I don't wanna end up like Jack Nicholson in
the Shining!!!

Congratulations man. I wish I could have been there with you guys. I missed the meeting last week. If you guys don't mind one more from the Eureka club joining you guys in your hunt I would like to try my luck. If not I'll see you guys in a month. Also good job on the raffle. Wish I could get as lucky. lol.

I just wanted to let you know I have been camping out in that park, and was out there until about 9:00pm tonight.
<Snip>
I am pretty sure there is nothing left in that park.

Seriously, I think there is nothing left in that park, and it is more frozen now than
when you took that picture. You are too decent a gentleman to be hanging about
that filthy old park.

Howdy Pard!
Camping out until 9pm? That's when you'd be thinking about turning in ain't it?
Besides we were out there bright and early.

As for anything being left in there, well, maybe not after I got done with it.
But I betcha there's more to be had!

And as for being a decent gentleman? Well, that sounds like a case of mistaken
identity! LOL!!!

Blessings,
M-Taliesin
