Had the opportunity to work a fresh tear-out last night. Unfortunately the soil in the area had a lot of clay and was just terribly unkind to any lost items. I spent more time trying to make items presentable for posting than I actually spent digging them up. Sorry for the delay in posting, but here's the best I can show you...

Seated Dime Obverse 042224.jpg Seated Dime Reverse 042224.jpg

Barber Obverse 042224.jpg Barber Reverse 042224.jpg

Trime 042224.jpg

Silver usually cleans up decently, but even these items have been noticeably degraded by ground conditions. I didn't bother with a picture of the trime's reverse because there simply weren't any details to capture.

Store cards obverse 042224.jpg Store cards reverse 042224.jpg

At least these store cards cleaned up fairly well. Found another example of the Kalamazoo card last year. Wish the Schoolcraft card would have faired better, I believe it is my first card from that town. Each of the cards were subjected to at least an hour of electrolysis and brutal scrubbing with toothpicks.

Kazoo card before 042224.jpg Kazoo card after 042224.jpg

Before and after of the back of the Kazoo card to give some idea how far the cards have come.

Hopeless finds 042224.jpg

This is a pile of the finds that were beyond hope. Seven IHPs including a fatty, and a two cent piece.

Nice hunt, well done on the recoveries.
Tear-out meaning a sidewalk?
