I went out today with the plan to hit two different parks. One was our county park that I know has been hit very hard ever since detecting has been around. I started here first. Only found a few keepers. Those were 3 wheaties, an 1895 IHP and a cheap plated band.

Next up was a local park that seems to never have been hit. I've dug a few old items from here the last couple trips. I had my Equinox set up for high tones on zinc and up + nickels.

The most interesting digs here IMO were the older looking HUGE eagle button. This was 8+ inches deep. The religious pendant....was also down there pretty good. Another item was the unidentified token. The 10 cent colgate tag is pretty cool. This dates to 1920 with a quick Google search. Also dug a couple locks. The one is massive and they sure don't make them like this anymore! The normal park clad was there to be found too. This was a super fun hunt. I'm going to keep hitting this spot until the old coins start showing up! Gotta be here. Thanks for the look. GL, HH 20180415_172355.jpg

Love the old rail railroad lock. It looks like it says B&O RR on the underside of the keyway.
Very nice assortment of finds, which makes for an interesting and enjoyable hunt.
Congratulations on your finds.

I've always wanted to find one of those big RR style locks, very cool. Lots of other great finds and interested to hear if anyone can ID the giant eagle button for you. Congrats!

I sent a pic to another digging buddy and he said it looks Rev war. It definitely looks old and it was surely deep!

Really sweet button John. Maybe you can work on it a little more and bring out some more details. The style and construction make me think of a GW Inaugural or other patriotic button from that period. One thing for sure is it is definitely post Rev War. The eagle wasn't a Federal symbol until after the war.

Wow, nice finds HV. Amazing that you're still pulling out coins out of that pounded PA park. Nice going on the button too!

Steve, I posted up in what is it? Section. Ends up being a WW1 item! Sucker was deep for being that modern! Nice to have a positive id though.
