Share your "Best Find" of the 2007 season here

Hello to all!! With the MD'ing season coming to an end here in Michigan soon, ground to freeze, snow to pile up, it gets me thinking about my best find of the year.

Now I know many of you are lucky enough to be able to hunt year round and maybe this is the start of nice hunting time for you, ground moist, temperatures lower, so get out there :P

Anyway, I would love to see everyones "best" or "favorite" find for the year 2007 posted here.
If you find a better item after posting, come and share that too!!
Please share your story too.. I am sure most would like to hear about your success!

Please doo share!! Let's see em people!!

Smiles! ;D

Here's mine. A 14kt men's nugget ring with 3 diamonds. Fit's me nicely too... love that wearable treasure!! I found it at a park in a grassy area between a basketball court and a volleyball court. It was about a 15 foot wide strip of grass and I pulled 4 rings from it, 3 keepers. Here's a photo from that day showing the nugget ring on my ring finger. I will get some better shots of just this ring up tonight too. Thanks for sharing!!

Thats a nice one Bdoo. Here is mine. I found it near a cornfield at an older site that I hit alot this summer. 1786 Vermont copper "Vermontensium". Came out of the ground in remarkable condition for a dug copper. I'm glad it wasn't in the cornfield area. Copper always looks beat up coming out of the cornfields.

Hello Bdoo ...and all treasure hunters.
Here are my two of my best finds for the year. First was an oriental pouch with these inside. Second best find was a GOLD NUGGET found in Northern California about 3 weeks ago. I'm so proud of my nugget mostly because it's one of the hardest things to find, in abundance that is, unless you're in a place where gold has been found..I truly envy those that live close to where the gold is.

Best of luck to all

HH

Re: Share your "Best Find" of the 2007 season here

I found both of these items at a catholic seminary built in the 1850's. Found the half in a grassy area and the license plate in some bulldozed dirt. Both finds about made my heart stop. When i pulled the license plate out of the ground, the backside without the writing on it was what i saw and thought i had found my first Civil War belt buckle. And then the half because i'd never found a silver half before, let alone a seated liberty in that good of shape

This is my favorite find of 2007. This is all that I have to remember it by as it was returned to it's owner a few weeks ago.

Sorry Romeo, but it's probably this so far. :P

If my trade axe is marked and there's a good chance after seeing another the same, it will probably be my first pick. But until then, you will have to dwell on being so close to my #1. :D

Hey, Bdoo, I would have to choose my GW Ship Halfpenny as my favorite find this year. It was a thrill to excavate at a site that we had hit hard.

Re: Share your "Best Find" of the 2007 season here

Almost always very hard for me to pick my best find for a year, well 2007 isn't over yet but still, hard to say.
So, Here are two , my Rarest find and my best conditioned coin find.

The Clipped Planchet King George III copper is a very interesting piece, it was made using the same letter punches used on the rare 1784 Vlack 14.48A variety, meaning also by the same maker.
This is only the second known example of this type and as of yet unnamed variety. So for a King George III copper, this one is almost unique.
The other coin is probably one of my prettiest newer Large Cents I have found, this was my 101st Large Cent and a few minutes before I found this one I got #100, but gads, that one was in horrible shape from being in ground that was always wet.........The 1845 was on a knoll overlooking the spot next to the stream where I found #100. The soil there was nice, dry and sandy. :)

Re: Share your "Best Find" of the 2007 season here

Well lets see.........I hav'nt been in Treasurenet all that much over the past 9 months, but I guess with the weather getting worse now and the snow starting to fly today. Finding a few moments to check the net , brings me right back to Treasurenet. I have some pics that need to be down loaded from the old camera which I hav'nt done yet......what I will , is post a few pics of some finds I already have from this year........

John ;)

Here are two of my best for this year.. the first is a ring I found for a guy in a soccer field (14K white gold)... second is an 18K/PLAT Tiffany band found on the same field while looking for the guy's ring! That was a nice couple of days...
