I light a candle for her, Bob.

Looks like there's still a little time left to hit it. I'd also watch it and see if you can hit the dirt while they are scraping it.

Wow, that sucks big time. I understand that not every old building needs to be saved and preserved, but that one looks like it is in pristine condition. Most people don't seem to understand that once an historic house is demolished, it is gone forever.

Here's a photo I took of an old house that used to stand in Naperville. It was built in 1894, and the last owners didn't take care of it very well. I drove there last summer because supposedly the new owner wanted to tear it down and was allowing people to go in there and remove any old fixtures they wanted for a fee (doorknobs, stained glass windows, etc etc) before its demolition. There was a large crowd outside protesting the demolition of this house. I was there to detect the huge corner lot. I was denied access to the yard by the owner, and the demolition was delayed. Unfortunately, the house was demolished recently. Now, a stupid ugly condo will undoubtedly be placed there.

The controversy surrounding the home was intense...it was called the Hammerschmidt mansion...check it out... http://www.dailyherald.com/story/print/?id=266634

That's a damn shame.

Those old places have so much character, only to be be knocked down and replaced by some cookie cutter new construction.
