hi you lot!!! and before I burble..merry xmas from New Zealand...I have always wanted my own hand dug old coinage..remember we are a young country..have been given a few but so much wanted to dig an old coin..., three years on and I fluke one at an old colonial 70 th regiment redoubt on the west coast.(circa 1864 ).actually dug two in the same hole but as you will see they are a bit on the weatherd side, but rapt to bits over them..I think that one is a british penny 1855 to 1860 and maybe a worn out farthing...but you guns will place them ok for me....hard case !!!one has a scratched initial on it like R/B...who was he??? did he get pissed and did it fall out of his pocket by the campfire...thanks members for looking and again...seasons greetings .. cheers des

Good finds Des, hard case writing too! You might want to put oil or something on them to bring them up a bit better. Someone on here will tell you what to use. Nuggy

Yes, thanks for putting me onto it Des. It means I get a fix and contact with like minded folk, when I can't get out looking.

congrats on some good finds des. if they are copper you may try soaking them in some olive oil for a few days to bring out the features on them. just my humble opinion.

You're definitely on a roll Des. Well done again, Mate :icon_thumleft:
Check out the coin forums for preservation techniques.
