Chapter 1, The Country Comes of Age 1837-1863 focuses on the California Gold Rush
Chapter 2, Last Voyage includes abundant wood-cut illustrations, a photo of a scale model of the ship, and top & side-view drawings
Chapter 3, Explorers of the Deep enhances the book by providing pictures of portions of the of the Data Correlation Matrix and Composite Probability Map. There are also pictures of the Sea MARC sonar, R/V Arctic Explorer vessel, crew, and Remote operated vehicle (ROV).
Chapter 4, Gold Discovered include pictures of the coins, ingots, and nuggets recovered.
