I am a detector user from germany and at the moment I am working on a book on shoe buckles from the 17th and 18th centuries. Due to some recent recoveries in germany, some types of shoe buckles which up to now have been dated to the 18th cent. could be dated back to the 17th cent. So I would appreciate any informations(and pictures) on buckles (and their fittings)which have been found on sites from this periods. Any help from fellow detector users are very much welcome. Thanks a lot for your efforts in advance, Folkert
(I also would like to get in touch with fellow american detector users)

Hi Buckram, thanks a lot for the hint. i knew this website before, but as I mentioned in my first message, also Marshall has to correct many of his datations. Many of the shoe buckles dated by him to the 18th century, have been found on an 30 years' war camp dated to September 1622.
Bes of Luck to you,
Folkert
