Okay, so I had to go back to see what they had dug up this week. They made it through another block, but not much progress. A few more feet of sidewalk were taken out. The only coin I got was this well worn Seated Liberty dime.
I think it's 187?.
While we were detecting, this little guy kept running back and fourth across the street. I was finally able to catch up to him on his lunch break.
It's a grey squirrel with a black head, and a black tail with a little white on the tip of his tail.

That Seated Dime is a variety known as a semi-slick, as for the squirrel there is too much cross breeding going on in Wisconsin. ;)

As always, awesome post bk.

There's just got to be a seated coin someplace in Michigan. I'd best find it before it dies of loneliness ;D

Great find and pics!! There's ways of bringing the date out on a coin. A friend can make dates readable on a buffalo nickel where there was nothing visible before. He claims it can eat through your skin though. So be careful. There's some rare and valuble dates in the seated series, so it might be worth an effort to find out the year.
That squirrel took the saying; "Living off the fat of the land" to new heights.
Whew!! Talk about thunder thighs!!!

Looks like there's a lot of potential there for sure.
Great dime even though it's worn. Silver and old!!
Good luck on your next trip there.

This was a good post to read,
I will be keeping my eyes open for similar construction projects,
never thought of this one, thanks!

Smiles!
