Picked this tray up at GW the other day. It was sitting in an area where it was obvious someone had been looking at it and then just changed their mind. The marks were too small to notice...and it didn’t say “Sterling”! I’m not sure of age but guessing early 1900s? Thanks for the info! It weighs 52g.
cool, that's a good 1.3 Troy onces of pure silver for 2 bucks. I've been saving most the silver I've found on the cheap. Once and a while I'll take a piece to the bullion buyer for some spending cash to go treasure hunting with.

Just doing a bit of tidying up on some older threads, mainly for the benefit of anyone searching the site for information.

This looks to be .800 fine silver from the Hanau silver industry in Germany and likely from the first half of the 20th Century. The three chevrons are part of Hanau’s coat of arms but Hanau marks are problematical because there was no administrative office for registration and consequently no records against which they can be checked. One maker known to have used the three chevrons in a circle as his trademark was Georg Rüttinger, (founded 1926) but the mark is usually accompanied by a “G over R in a circle” mark for this maker.
