Value aside;
Over the past 30 years of detecting I'll say I've found my share of silver coins. Personally I give them a quick rinse and leave them. I've been stashing them away in hopes of some day making some albums to display. I like the coins looking as if it was dug, maybe even a little dirt on them. When I see dug silver posted and they are all polished up it really takes away from the look of the coin, in my opinion.
Wondering how others feel?

Well, if you ever plan to sell them, DON'T CLEAN THEM. :)

If not, just get some silver polish.

I'm the same way when it comes to silver. I have a 1902 dime I dug that has a darkish patina on one side of it and I like it that way. It looks like it is over 100 years old and that is what I want.

Mike...I agree...I give them a quick light rinse and leave em, but if you aren't intending on selling them, I guess its just personal preference whether to polish them or not, myself I prefer not to, although I do like the look of shiny silver..:) but I save the polishing for rings and spoons...:)
