What year did the GOvt. switch from silver to manufacturing clad coins?

Last year for 90% silver coins was 1964.Half Dollars 65-69 are 40%.

quarters dimes halves are pre 64. nickels are 42 42 44 45 for silver

If you consider collectors, they are still minting 90% silver US coins. ffd

for "normal" coinage 1964 was the end of 90% silver --dimes quarters and halves --from 65 to 70 there were 40% silver halves ( only the halves had silver in them) -- after 1970 only "special"collector type coins" were made in silver by us mints. -- of course there are the 1942 thru 1945 35% war nickles as well.

Oops, sorry, per 2010 Redbook, only 1970 D was issued in mint sets, doesn't say anything about 1970 S. ffd
