Contacts are a great source of silver...the problem is that most contain Cadmium! Don't try to melt them at home, real toxic and not handled by many refiners/scrap dealers. They also vary in purity, most are paid for after smelt and assay. The silver solder used in H V A C also has secondary value...the current drop in silver has softened prices, but there is a market.

Also remember that those Thermocouples have value...Platinum content! Hard selling now, but pile em up! Usually sold in bulk, payment after smelt and assay. Expect 88% payout and paying freight.

Sold my contacts a few years back and it worked out very close to your quote. They took 10% off for the Cadmium content from processing, $25 for the assay then bought it for spot at the time. The quantity does sometimes dictates the price for some processors.
