So I had a 15 minute hunt this morning.
This is my standard site for weekend mornings. I found an old ring, another silver something (ring I think) and then a large disc.
It was so large, that I did not register it as a coin, but I have a 1901 Silver Dollar in my hand.

Never found one before.

Pics coming, but I was so stoked, that I came home to clean my new coin.

Shortest. Hunt. Ever.

Very cool. What kind of site is it? The oldest stuff I've been able to find has been at an old ball field. I've got a few hot leads, just waiting for some rain so I don't patch everyone's grass. Hopefully more to show soon!

Cool. What do you use to search for historic aerials?

This is the way I start looking for old sites.

Use it like google maps to find a site, then click on the selections on the left for historic plat maps or aerials.

Great tool.

Thanks! I used that to confirm that I believe I've found a field that used to be used for baseball games in the early 1910s. Talked to the owner yesterday and it looks like I'll be to detect it next month after they harvest the hay. Fingers crossed they didn't put a bunch of fill in for crops!
