Lost ball in tall weeds
Greenie
Hi all, my daughter came over today and we went back to the colonial era cabin remains on our farm. I had been there last Thursday, and used a machine to pull the collapsed foundation stones out and spread them so we could search under the floor area. Found 6 more buttons for a total of 56, and 3 more large copper pennies 2 - 1826 ( one is perfect) and a 1854. Had to make myself stop so she could be here and actually find good items. I had marked 6 or 7 spots before I left Thurs pm that all had good hits, so we dug a few, found another button, and dug a 1780 Spanish real. It measures to be a 1 real, about 5" deep, and not from foundation material. I wasn't sure if we would ever find any old or newer silver, so this one really excited us.
The median date on coins is about 1828, these people were farmers according to census info, thinking once they were established enough to sell goods for money probably took a few years, so maybe they got there about 1810 to 1815. But why would they have a spanish coin worth a lot in the day, from 30 to 35 years earlier?
Will post better pictures soon
