Yes, that is a CiviL War bullet: its either a 3 Ringer OR a Williams Cleaner.. that has lost its shaft and base. It is tough to tell from the picture because I cannot see the cavity very well

Well, remember, that piece of land was probably made a campsite, or a spot where the army bivouaked; there could have been a skirmish there or maybe it was just dropped by a stray soldier. The bullet also MAY be a Williams Cleaner. I would have to see a little better pic of the base..>BUT, either way, it is Civil War era.

Looks like a standard 3-ringer... Could've come in with a load of fill dirt, been dropped by a kid or adult more recently, might've been used for hunting or defense post-CW. Prolly not a campsite there. But ya never know. And as such, probably not CW--but CW Era would be a better description. Nice find!

Brian , being from Chattanooga I would say this is a Civil War find and not a later bullet ........ hit that field some more . The whole city and surounding area was occupied extensively by both sides during the war . I would like to get back together with you again some time and do another hunt sometime .
