Silver plated flat button, one piece. Any ID help appreciated

Found it at an old farmhouse I've hunted a few times before. Found another button cannonballguy said was pretty old (1835-1860). If I were a betting man is say this may be older?

It's about the diameter of a nickel.

Agreed, first qrter of the 19th is most likely.

Since I can't see a backmark it likely dates to the very early 1800s.

Thanks fellas. I think I've finally found the early area of the site. It's full of garbage everywhere so I'm going to rock-out my CTX3030 and see what pops up. Previously I've only hit it with my T2

Judging by the loop attachment, it could easily be older than 1800's - I have found that MOST buttons were clad with something. There are many good resource sites for colonial artifact IDing -

I have found quite a few of those silver plated flat buttons. From the sites where I have found them, I believe they were popular from about 1795 to about 1810.

Steve is correct. The silver plated ones (as opposed to gold plated) were popular during a narrow date range right around the end of the 1700s and beginning of the 1800s. Roughly coinciding with the popularity of Tombac as a material for button production.

Ugh, wistful thinking it seems. I went there today, froze my nuts off, and basically blanked. Got a wheat, IH, and a piece of a silver spoon.
