Went out this past weekend on two hunts. Saturday morning for 4 hrs and found two silver pieces, a tiny silver .925 neclace with 2 pendants that are also .925. Total weight 2.4g . "I thought it was a fishing leader at first, then at home I realized it was silver". The next was a beautiful Silver pendant with an Amethyst in it "my favorite piece".

Sunday my wife found her first GOLD :hello2::laughing7::hello2:it was a 14k ring at 2.7g. She trolls the boards daily, so give her props. I also found 2 rings one junk and the other was .925 silver moons and stars at 2.5g the silver is dirty I put it through electrophoressis for 15-20 min to get the crusty stuff off of it. Now the ring and chain needs to be polished.

There was also a fair quanity of coins that we found last weekend. One was a gold dollar.

I have a question for the more advanced hunters? I found a nickel that is wafer thin compared to others about one sixth the thickness and still has the memorial and head present on either sides. I have never seen one like it could it be silver that has evenly dissipated?

For those who wonder, I rarely post pics of all of the trash that we find but trust me there is a lot to get this amount of good stuff.

Definitely a good haul! Congrats!:hello2::hello2::hello2:

The nickel could just be a very eroded regular nickel. Check the back..the silver war nickels have a large mint mark above the memorial. They are 35% silver and usually come out with black corrosion.

Yes, We have been down to St.Augustine beach pier area a few times. We usually go as far as St.Augustine on the south to Fernadina to the north, but mostly in Jax area.

How do you guys clean the Old silver finds?

LookinDown have you tried the 15x18 SEF? I thought about putting one on the wifes Excal.
