So Mike Denton and I got to hunt a house in his town that I had asked to hunt 10 years ago but turned down by the old owner. This time we were lucky, sort of. They let us hunt as long as we split it 50/50 We had two sweet young girls age 9 and 5 who would snatch everything we found out of the holes and our hands as we found them as well as going running off with our pinpointers and diggers: it was cute but not after about 2 hours. They sure did their best to help though We found 2 silver dimes, a 1936 Buffalo, a turn of the century sash brooch, a Red Ryder Badge and four wheats. When we gave the finds to the owner she decided she was just going to keep them "to sell on ebay." We can come back again in a couple weeks she said... nope! not me. I kept the dimes in my pocket to see if she was going to be honest or not. Also I had put the Red Ryder badge in my junk pouch and had forgotten about it until about an hour ago today. Can't find an example of the same one online if anyone has any info would welcome it.

Love the Red Ryder badge. Looks to be in great shape considering being dug. Most of my old toy badges have come out of the groun in poor condition. HH

Targets in her ground will either sit and rot or she'll decide she'll start detecting. After her "renegotiation", I'd have told the hag right then and there: " Dont expect to see me again--oh, and best of luck in investing over a $1000 in a machine and accessories---I hope your learning curve is long, fat, and painful"

Really cool badge!... I know what you mean. It really sucks when someone goes back on their word. Some people in the world are just like that. At least you got to keep a few goodies. :laughing7:

Yep, that makes my blood boil, I went to this park one time with my mom tho detect and these two 5-year-olds wearing Halloween costumes (in January, mind you) did exactly that. They broke my shovel and tried to dig with my pinpointer and then when I found a relatively key date wheatie, they took it and wouldn't give it back until I finally took it back. Al this took place while their mom was ranting on about the wonders of feminism to my poor mom who could only stand there.

Yeah the dad was initially going on about how he didn't want to have to "babysit" us: ironically we ended up doing the babysitting!

Congrats on getting your 50+ silvers SE...I'm up to 49 but #50 seems to elude me. I would of not taken that ladys change of rules so nicely after doing all the work and having all the equipment but then again i don't know if i would have been smart enough to tuck away the dimes to test the waters..nice call!

That sucks. Sounds like you got to keep the best finds at least!

Yeah 49 came in august and was my 14th for that month...I haven't hunted much this month but my 50th was a 1906 Barber half: it was the only silver in the spot I hunted. So I have only found 3 silver coins this month: lots of dud areas and few outings. The couple who owned the place are some of the few who ask for anything so I was trying to be honest, the stuff wasn't that valuable and the only thing I really wanted to keep, that they got, was the buffalo nickel.
