or because I can't afford a metal detector lol

Yeah I know. I'll post another video tomorrow w/ my sibling's canon:icon_thumright:

Depth? 6, maybe 7" max. Will it pick up jewelry? Yeah, but the item has to be within 3" of the search coil.

Cost? If I had to guess, this instrument probably ran me $4.50. When you buy in bulk, components run for pennies. Magnet wire is relatively expensive. You can find this in old motors. etc.

Education: PRICELESS!

Hopefully within the next few weeks, I'll find some time to work w/ my arduino & prototype something a little more practical.

Update: External mic issue. Sorry about the noise!

Yes, that's actually a rake lol. I couldn't resist, so I went out for an hour & found a few scraps (all within 2-5" ground level). I also found a spoon, but forgot it!

Already started on a PI detector. Hope it digs deeper!

BFO's may work in areas without Iron Ore.

but my first 2 detectors that I could call "Mine" were BFO & I could hear those changes,
all the time.
they only worked properly in air tests like on the video.

even TR is a task to use in the NE

Bounty Hunter & Whites :
VLF & G.E.B. were a Welcome change for us here in N.E. PA

Good thing Minnesota isn't known for it's iron range, ha.

I'll be spending most of my time on the arduino boards the next week or so. The PI detectors are pretty popular over there. I finally have an excuse to use it!

Just here for tech info
