VIDALIA ... a sandbar in the MISSISSIPPI RIVER was used as a dueling ground. It was located between here and NATCHEZ. In SEPTEMBER of 1827 a general battle amongst the seconds in a duel led to the deaths of RICHARD CUNEY and NORRIS WRIGHT. Three others were wounded and one of them was JIM BOWIE.
