As you all know I've been working a new costal site. Research has indicated a saxon site to the fore of it and today I've found out that there was once a ferry crossing and public house bang next to this great site came down in or around 1957 plenty of scope for finds.
After digging every signal that wasnt registred as iron 300 lead fishing leads later my detector screamed a unusal high pitch squeal retrieving what i figured a a round copper ring because of the dirt on it. I began to wonder why the detector had made such an unusal noise as I knew the sound of copper it was then after rubbing the ring though my finger a small gleam of gold shone though after cleaning it came up a gleaming yellow no hallmarks or any other identifying marks.
But I would guess it would be quite an age.
When I have finished at this site I will do a complete listing of all the things Ive found and also photos of the area itself.
