Temps climbed up to the high 60's today and gave a decent thaw, so I put in a full day at one of my favorite old farm sites. Lots of the usual iron and other scrap junk but had a few pretty good hits. Ended up with an old Ford wooden-spoke wheel hub cap, some assorted buckles and saddle tack, and a couple of broken spoons.
Found three wheat cents, a 1950D, 1942 and 1912. But the real winner of the day was a silver dime. I was too afraid to rub it clean in the field and assumed it was probably a Merc based off of the dates of the wheat cents I have found there. I put it in my case and when got home gave it a gentle wash and was shocked to see it was an 1887 Seated Liberty!! In pretty good shape too with lots of detail. Really stoked as this is my oldest detecting find so far.
