Don't feel alone bro. I'm snowed in and had water problems at work Monday. Old copper pipes busted in 5 spots. Lol! Funny, I'm looking at slate right now. I haven't got much to study. Maybe you can put an eye and an opinion on my slate crumbs. First broken banner i gave $5.00 for at a show. Next piece I found. I don't know exactly what it is. I think it's an axe bit. It's probably not slate either. Next two little chips I believe are slate. I can't determine what linear pattern on them is. Man's work or simply the texture of the stone??? ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424965100.193805.jpg ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424965121.459855.jpg ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424965143.445479.jpg
This piece is a recent find. It's rhyolite. I'm not sure if it's a broken banner or gorget, or a simple scraper??? ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424965242.854946.jpg ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424965293.606174.jpg ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1424965323.343779.jpg
Hope you get thawed out soon!

Is slate a real "localized" material or is it found everywhere? I saw alot of it in the creeks in NE TN. but I have not seen it here in South WNC.

I thought we might be excused from the snow this year till yesterday. Rite around 2.5 inches plus ice on top of that. Still melting off today. I got to shovel snow this morning I don't know how you northern guys put up with that stuff.

Great video. I think most of us are snowed in and bored to tears. Thanks Travis!

Nice Slate collection Trev!! Love the banded slate. That gorget you found has a incredible banding pattern on it. You see how on your pieces they drilled and ground in areas to enhance and make the design! It really shows they prized these pieces due to the extra thought to make those banded slate artifacts into artful masterpieces!! Mjm has some beautiful banded slate gouges check them out if you haven't!........................Awesome frame!!.................GTP(Chris)

A neat video for sure!! You've got some outstanding fields for banded slate and other crude projectile points I'm just east of the Mississippi where the banded slate drops off exponentially.nice finds, kick-a$$ pestles'
