Slow day yesterday & 2 years too late.
Finally a nice day yesterday, so I took a Ride to Heckscherville.
I Got there early & saw a Gentleman in his yard getting ready
to do some work, so I spun around & asked if he knew where the
"Island" was long story short. His Yard was the "Island",
and there is now 6 Feet of Topsoil on it.
Nice thing though, he was around in the 30's & 40's,
and although not realy into history, his wife is writing a book
on History of the area, & he apparently Listens to her :P
Anyway, I got a few Leads from him, Including where
the Troops camped when they took over town during the Civil
war.
So that's where I headed.
The site is very trashy & used for a Yearly Irish Festival,
Circus's Carnivals, Etc. so it's going to take awhile
to get through to the older finds, but weather permitting,
I know they are there.
My only Finds worth posting
a 1934 Wheat
When I dug this up, I was sure it was a Large cent until
I realized it was too Big. It's larger then a Half.
And although it is made of Copper, it has the same Detail
as this Brass Token. so I'm posting it so you can actually see what's on
it
