Slow day yesterday & 2 years too late.

Finally a nice day yesterday, so I took a Ride to Heckscherville.

a!!!H.jpg

I Got there early & saw a Gentleman in his yard getting ready
to do some work, so I spun around & asked if he knew where the
"Island" was long story short. His Yard was the "Island",
and there is now 6 Feet of Topsoil on it.
Nice thing though, he was around in the 30's & 40's,
and although not realy into history, his wife is writing a book
on History of the area, & he apparently Listens to her :P

Anyway, I got a few Leads from him, Including where
the Troops camped when they took over town during the Civil
war.
So that's where I headed.
The site is very trashy & used for a Yearly Irish Festival,
Circus's Carnivals, Etc. so it's going to take awhile
to get through to the older finds, but weather permitting,
I know they are there.

My only Finds worth posting

a 1934 Wheat

When I dug this up, I was sure it was a Large cent until
I realized it was too Big. It's larger then a Half.
And although it is made of Copper, it has the same Detail
as this Brass Token. so I'm posting it so you can actually see what's on
it

How far is it from where you live? Sounds like a magic place to hunt full of rich history. Great finds so far and plenty more to come I'd say. Pays to do your research.
Good luck and

I am glad to see that you got out with all the crappy weather you guys have had this spring. Looks like there could still be some treasure filled areas around the island for you to explore. Congrats on the nice finds you did have. The worlds Fair token is really cool!

Smiles!

Jeff,
Looks like you're on to something there. Great job. By the way, what happened to that old house you were hunting at? Have you been back there at all?

Jeff: Still pretty nice finds. Thanks for posting the "before and after" shots of the World's Fair Coin. Don't think I would have been able to pick the detail out.

Keep digging!

Looks like you found a good hunting spot. I am sure those finds (nice ones) are just the tip of the iceburg.

Happy Hunting ;D

Thanks MM & all who responded.

I'v got so many sites, going back to any spot for seconds
is going to cut into my trying to hit them
all before the year is over.
So at this point I'm sampling them all.
If one turns out to be a Gold or Silver mine of sorts.
that may change.

1939
NEW YORK WORLDS FAIR

Was easy to see.

from there I went to EBay & started searching
till I found ones with it in the same place.

then after seeing the one above,
& looking at mine, I realized the lines on the reverse were
Leggs. after a little more Comparison,
I came to the conclusion, it's the same design.
