Slow talkin' still walkin'
Our rural mail carrier,as a courtesy,picked up my slow talking neighbor Lloyd every Saturday and hauled him to town to see his girlfriend for a number of years.
One Saturday Lloyd hopped in and announced in his slow manner that this would be the last ride.He and his girlfriend were to marry the next day.Gil wished him his best and dropped him off in town.
The next Saturday as Gil came through there was Lloyd with his thumb out.Gil picked him up and headed for town.
"Thought you was gettin' married last Sunday,Lloyd"
"Me,too,Gil.Now I'm goin' to town to look for a new girlfriend."
"My goodness!After all these years,what happened ?"
"Well,Gil,we was sittin on the couch Saurday evening an I looked over my shoulder.There was her cat layin on it's back on the floor playin with the balls on the bottom of the curtain.
'Lookie there,Honey,'I told her,'tomorrer night you'll be doin that for me...............................Gil, I talk so damn slow that by the time she looked around that cat was licking it's butt and I was just real lucky to escape with my life !"
