I classify all my sluice material down to at least 1/2 inch minus. Most high bankers have a built in classifier before your material reaches the sluice box end.

I use an Angus MacKirk "Expedition" model sluice box and classify down to 1/2 inch...One of my "homemade" classifiers is nothing more than a 5 gal bucket with 1/2 holes drilled in the bottom and about 4" up the sides. I place the classifier bucket inside of a good 5 gal bucket and shovel or pump away!!
