I found this a couple weeks ago thinking it may be some sort of wire crimp tool. I normally get rid of locked up pliers and other tools but i always want to be extra sure i am not getting rid of something more.
After posting a picture on the "what is it " forum it was quickly identified as a bullet mold...from there i was able to locate an exact match on the web.

Looks to be a typical civil war era small cal bullet mold!

For now the mold is locked up tight but i will soak it in some oil and see if i can get it unstuck.

Here is what it should look like when i am done cleaning it.

It has two different types of chambers...one for a round ball and the other for a conical bullet

I sure am glad i didn't trash this one!

HH everyone!

That is awesome!!!! I love when I got something and don’t know what I got then I find out want I got later,
Nice relic Ammo

Yes i was pretty surprised. I suspect people have found a few of these over the years on camp sites. This was found on the lawn of a pretty old house. I did find a few very small bullets in the same area that very well may fit this mold. When i get it open i will check to see if they are from this tool.

Truly a great Civil war relic.

Thank you...I wonder if i can melt chocolate and make edible bullets with it?
LOL just kidding. I do agree...it is for sure a pretty cool find considering i have only found one civil war bullet EVER! and now i have a mold to make as many as a like!

Not really sure if its banner worthy but i thank you for your vote! on the other hand...congratulations on your banner...finding anything as old as your bullet mold and then finding both pieces is awesome!
They say everything comes in threes...I wonder if we will see another mold pretty soon? Now that would be crazy considering i have never even seen a mold pop up on t-net

Looks like its got bullets in it!!

That would be pretty cool if it does...looking forward to getting it open.
