Hey all. It's been a loooonnnggg winter! Got out yesterday to some new sites using my new 10 DD coil after my orig one died due to a short in the cord.

At hole #1 got the button as well as the shoe buckle. Moved along to the next set of holes & came up with nothing. On the way down to another site I saw 2 other tectorists hitting up the site I was headed to. Nice guys and are not members of any forums. We chatted a bit & they had a few buttons to show but no coins.

I moved on down the road to a site I had been to years before but it was one of the hottest days of the summer, so by the time I found it I was already parched and almost ran into a white face hornets nest. I hit it for a while and then I heard that nice sweet sound of a copper. Was only a few inches down but she was a beauty! Felt good to get my 2nd of the year (1st one was way back in Jan). After that not much popped up except the handbag handles marked PAT. FEB. 2.75 LP & BB. Headed back to the car and saw a fox running away. Stopped at one more site I had hit hard last year and snagged this old buckle, probably horse related.

HH,
Roger!

Nice going the copper, and the change purse handles. The buckle is a nice recovery, and possible it's shoe related instead of horse, looking at the button also it's looking like a nice early site you're at.

Excellent condition on the LC. That buckle is a great find too.

I almost never see those shoe buckles complete. I have never found a complete shoe buckle, just fragments and frame. I once found a complete knee-buckle but it broke within an hour of finding it :BangHead:. Awesome copper too, I have only found one this year (an 1803 in late March).

I just noticed that you thought that buckle was off a horse, it is actually a colonial shoe buckle, I have found a pewter one (It could be bad quality brass), Brass fragments, Copper fragments, even Silver fragments but never iron. I guess it may be my discrimination which is always kept one notch above iron but I still have found horse buckles that somehow show up above iron.

Double DOH!!!! I just wrote a post saying what you found was not a horse buckle and really a shoe buckle. I went up after posting it and saw your post saying that there were two buckles :BangHead:

No worries buddy, I was still tired from the hunt the day before and then went to 6 Flags yesterday. I posted my finds, after the park so I was pretty shot at that point, LOL!
