So what's your thoughtS?

So there are a ton of criminals out there in this artifact relm, so I figure act like them and you can learn their tricks. Not only do I learn authentic by many hundreds of walking miles I also like to make fakes and break them in many different ways to learn the tricks of the theives way. Just to let you see my past bird I made and how easy it is with not even the right tools. It took 35 min to make and fake patina. I recommend doing this to learn

Trev, that slate banner preform you show in the first picture is a great artifact! That style of banner is particularly rare, even as a preform.

Jeff, Trevor doesn't make these to fool anyone. He makes them to educate so people know what to look for. Also to show just how easy it is to fake these pieces. If you don't know what you are buying then stay away from them.

You might fool someone with the eye test but your not going to fool anyone with the nose test. Every hard stone artifact that I have found in the field has a dirt-earthy smell to them that is still present after decades of being found. It is something that stays with the stone just as a natural patina does. I bet you can smell all the chemicals you used to create the fake patina just by holding it at arms length away. I must say that those are some beautiful creations though, I only find pieces like that in my dreams.

I think Trev has a good idea. A good burning will make anyone furious. The fakers need to have their tricks revealed. Time spent studying fakes is a must today. It's a shame!

I don't know if showing people the fakes in pictures that are made will do much justice in "educating" people. Telling people the small tricks and techniques to make them seem authentic do more educating I would think. all this tells me is that hey look I can fool anyone! I am curious as to what tools were used and/or applications to material to make them seem authentic...
