Yes,

Today I took the motors out of a Dish washer, Food Dryer and I have one to take out of a washing machine. Some take some time but some are easy. The dish washer I just turn upside down and one hard hit with a sledge hammer and all the plastic breaks and it falls inside.

I go to three different yards mainly. Two of them won't even take batterys. There prices really vary on different items.

I used to waste time unscrewing but now the hammer opens up any plastic , like vaccum cleaners, fans and AC/DC appliance power packs for the step down transformer.
Don't forget most dishwashers still have a quality stainless steel (non-magnetic) interior,
just takes a while to clean it up and remove all the bits off it.

I know the batteries you guys are talking about are car batteries, but what about regular batteries? Like AA's? Is there a place that will buy those? I have hundreds of those that have no charge left in them.

Don't forget; most scrap yards will pay higher prices for clean and segregated metals. Seperate out your cast iron also. It may not be benificial if you only have a few pounds.

The other thing I have done in the past is to negociate a price on a mixed lot of steel and iron, or electric motors. Some motors are worth more than others.

Shop around for prices. Some dealers pay better than others.

At least that is how it works here.
