Sold some Scrap today

What do you meen by electric motors? ones out of fans, vacume cleaners and such.

Thanks Jay

Yes,

Today I took the motors out of a Dish washer, Food Dryer and I have one to take out of a washing machine. Some take some time but some are easy. The dish washer I just turn upside down and one hard hit with a sledge hammer and all the plastic breaks and it falls inside.

The prices here in Texas look about the same but last time a sold car batteries I got 20 cents a pound for them.

I go to three different yards mainly. Two of them won't even take batterys. There prices really vary on different items.

I used to waste time unscrewing but now the hammer opens up any plastic , like vaccum cleaners, fans and AC/DC appliance power packs for the step down transformer.
Don't forget most dishwashers still have a quality stainless steel (non-magnetic) interior,
just takes a while to clean it up and remove all the bits off it.

I sold some scrap last weekend in Pennsylvania and got
$5 for each battery
40 cents lb for Lead
53 cents lb for Yellow Brass

Thanks,
Mike

I know the batteries you guys are talking about are car batteries, but what about regular batteries? Like AA's? Is there a place that will buy those? I have hundreds of those that have no charge left in them.

i got 10 boat batterys the other day . they came out to 499 pounds and i got .24 a pound .......a good score , i bought the batterys for $4.00 each

Don't forget; most scrap yards will pay higher prices for clean and segregated metals. Seperate out your cast iron also. It may not be benificial if you only have a few pounds.

The other thing I have done in the past is to negociate a price on a mixed lot of steel and iron, or electric motors. Some motors are worth more than others.

Shop around for prices. Some dealers pay better than others.

At least that is how it works here.

Jeff
