Went out today and for the fourth day in a row I found a coin along with some other goodies. Silver dime, 1950 D quarter and a 1945 wheat. I also found a nice piece of quartz.

I also managed to dig a small bottle of Hoppe's gun cleaner and an interesting piece of bronze (I think). It has some numbers on it, 6 or 8, 3 (?) 4. Really want to know what it is. Looks like there some gilt still on it.

Congrats on the silver,
The metal bar may be a push button type lock cam. You would push the button(s), located on the lock body to keep the door from locking behind you.

I think you might be right. You guys are always so nice to comment on my piddly little backyard find. :) So I want to get a new detector since mine is a beginner version. Any thoughts for a device for heavily mineralized and trashy soil? Since I have most of the iron out of my yard and have found a few Civil War relics and coins, I'd like to try and find more. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

At pro is a great machine. How is detecting in DC? Easier then MD?

I don't know... I've never detected anywhere but my yard! But a TreasureNet member gave me a great spot to try, so we'll see...... : )

Take a look at the mint mark on that quarter. Seems like there is a repunched Denver mint variety in that year or a off center mint mark variety.

That year there was a D over S mint mark. I looked at mine but didn't think the mark matched but after you note, I look again and you might be right! Cheers and thanks for the heads up.

For the money, the atpro seems hard to beat. Had mine for three years now and very pleased with it. Thought of upgrading also but have yet to see a machine work that makes me want to spend the extra money...at least not yet. Still anxious to see the Deus work. Have heard a lot of good reports on it.

Beautiful silver coins and I love that quartz.

Don't let anyone tell ya' that BH machines won't find treasure.
Yeah, they're not depth monsters but they will find stuff; especially coins.

I would say to check out the Teknetics machines before you settle on anything but ultimately you'll want a machine that feels right to you and does what you want it to do.

Congrats on a nice hunt.

BTW, good luck in the blizzard. I'm in MD and it's comin' down really hard at the moment. I can only imagine how much we'll have 24 hours from now if it keeps up.

That BH did me proud. It found a mother load of amazing things in my yard. It's a keeper!
