I went out today on a new piece of property that I was granted permission to hunt. I walked 2 plowed tobacco patches and found large amounts of flint flakes and one piece that looks like it has been worked but nothing made of it. Found one point of flint that has a really nice swirl pattern. It is broke and the edges are very smooth. One thing I did find in this field is the rock that has the hole in it. Does anyone have any idea what it could be? It is oblong in shape and is tapered on one end with a slight curve on one side. The hole is in the middle of the stone. It may be nothing more than a unique rock.

I always bring that stuff home for "Further review" LOL Then I toss it in the rock garden. I imagine a hundred years from now someone will come along and think OMG, there were Indians here, look at all this flint and rocks with holes in it :laughing9:

:tongue3:

The piece with the hole looks like sandstone.
Many pipes in Il are made from this.
Could be a fractured sandstone pipe.
