These buttons are nice, there was 1812 posts in this area, I have found two in the same field, another person I know also found one. There was a trading post near the river that was there in 1812, we have found some interesting finds over the years. I think that they brought the wounded to this location. The military also used this area in the 1850s time period. HH

I love seeing those in the dirt but unfortunately only dig a small fraction of what I used to.

in different sizes & conditions, all from this site.
toasty 'United States 10 Regiment', & Pewters from other sites.

Interesting assortment there Herbie, I wonder if that was a military ships ballast? The Rev War era 60th is puzzling since it is so much earlier than the others, and it is not American like the others..

Hi Steve, buttons shown down to Script 'A's from the ballast pile,
ones below from other sites.
Military transport in first half of 19th century I believe.
have recovered at least 25 one piece military buttons here,
also used as a fishing boat, many cast lead longline jigs dug.
Pix below show the pile with timbers visible and coral heads from some southern port.
I keep my eyes peeled for any unusual rock formations along the coast,
these are usually hotspots of early activity.
Best to you, & HH Herbie ;D
