Finally got to go hunting today. With it being in the mid 40's I knew i better jump at the chance to go hunting. I hunted a very old two story house near south central Kentucky a couple of hours this is what I found. I believe that one of the relics is civil war period the tent rope tighter, at least that is what I think it is. The other brass piece is broke and some parts missing don't know if anyone might know what this is. I thought maybe a gun butt plate? Also the stirrup what is the age? I also am wondering what the small brass piece is. Thanks for your help and for looking! :icon_thumright:

The brass tube with the holes is a tent rope tension devise. They are military, but I do not subscribe to the theory that they are civilwar. I believe they are Span/Am era. Nice finds.

I agree with you.

I believe some of those finds to be late 1800's

Great saves

Thanks for all the replies? Also I forgot to mention that all this stuff was found in a area more or less that a half mile away were a lot of cw skirmishes took place. This house is in what we call a tri county area were three county's join.About 20 miles away was the confederate capital of Ky. I may post some brighter pictures later if that would help. I hope that I can search this area some more soon. They are going to destroy the old house to build a new one there. :'( Thanks Again! :icon_thumright:

I'm not for shire if this site was used during the CW or not.But It is located very close to a lot of CW activity.I've read were some skirmish's have took place all around this area and some of the places that were named I cant find anywere in books, for example: (skirmish April 23, 1863 near such and such town name of place example pigion roost). I will not tell were this site's exact location is. John Hunt Morgan's raid's of C.S.A. guerrilla's were in this area destroying depot's and trains and the like. They or U.S. troops could have camped here, this site looks like it would be idea for that perpose. There are hundreds of acrea's of grain field's here and you can see for miles. Hopefully I can find a button or something that could help lead to if this is a camp site. I am still researching this area, this area is a good drive from my house. Thanks for your help and for looking!
