Someone Has To Step Up And.....

Im curious about the crawdads. Don't have them up north. As kids we tried them, that we caught in freshwater trout streams. Tasted like mud. And I like all seafood.

Wrong kinda crawdad/crayfish.

The ones consumed in the South are from brackish water, they are a little bigger and a little better tasting.

I had an aquarium set up with fish from the creek, a small mouth bass and two bluegill, I also had a few crawdad in there too. After a few days they started to change color, within a few weeks they were a reddish purple and no longer muddy brown. So I'm guessing they may be more palatable once the mud is flushed from their system.

They taste real good down here, we always have a bunch at the annual treasure hunters picnic down here...

Yes we do. We call them "Crayfish" or "bait"..

I guess I wasn't clear. We don't have them as food. I would think the ones I have tried from freshwater, cold water trout streams would taste better than those from the warm water in the south. I would/have drank the water in these brook trout streams and Im guessing they wouldn't drink the water in the south where their crayfish come from. So I would think the crawfish in the brookie streams would taste much better and less like mud. But apparently they don't. Which puzzles me.

Speaking of puzzles.... I bought a ten piece puzzle at Walmart last week. And it only took me two evenings to put it together. I was darn proud. It said, right on the box, 2-4 yrs.

Who's older? Jeff or Treasure_Hunter

Thanks.....

If they were slimy they were not cooked right, should look just like crispy fried chicken, crispy out of the fryer...

When you coming down?

you're only supposed to eat the legs?? no wonder I don't like them

Damn that looks good!

I used to gig for them here in the bottoms and loved when my buddy wife would cook them up. Frog legs, fried okra, squash, and glass of iced tea[emoji12]

Don't get no better than that!

I did my best to eat as much as I could when I was in Panama City, Fl last November for the Emerald Coast Cruise-in. Evidently I didn't do a very good job!:laughing7:

Now that's a feast!

My kind of meal. But don't think it is worth wading through all the people you have back there to get some.
